What is the Historic Wakefield Barn’s capacity?
The most we recommend for the guest count is 250. This varies from event to event, as each setup is different. You may be able to fit a bit more if you aren’t doing a band, buffet, etc. Talk with your planner about the best way to accommodate your guest count with all of the elements you want to be incorporated into your day!
Are outdoor ceremonies available?
We have two locations available for outdoor ceremonies. One, in front of a lush weeping elm on the grass and another, on our patio, facing our custom stone fireplace.
Do you have air conditioning?
Yes! Our space is air-conditioned and heated for guest comfort.
Are pets allowed on the property?
We love to have your four-legged family members involved in your day! That being said, we just ask that they are escorted home before food service begins.
Do you allow outside catering?
Because we know we can offer the best, we do not offer outside catering or beverage packages. Part of the benefit in booking with us is that we offer turnkey packages that make planning and communication easier through the process. We have some incredible menu offerings and have created custom menus for clients, in the past, as well.
Can we try the food?
We’d love for you to come and try our offerings and wine selection. If you’d like to try the food prior to booking, there is a $25 per person fee for a private tasting. If you’d like to book before tasting (check our reviews for more information on past experiences), we offer a complimentary tasting for two prior to the event. All other guests who want to join are $25 per person.
Are you handicap accessible?
We are currently installing an elevator on the property. In the meantime, we do offer a stairlift for any guests who have mobility issues.
How do rehearsals work?
For rehearsals, we allocate an hour the day prior for you and your event stakeholders to come in and practice for the big day! If there is an event booked the day prior, we still allow time the day prior, but your rehearsal may have to be scheduled in the morning. You’ll find that this is pretty much industry standard, across the board.
Is there a preferred vendor list we have to adhere to?
We have a great wedding community in Raleigh and love to work with them all. We do have just a few vendors we require for booking: Mulino Italian Kitchen & Bar for food and beverage service and Southern Oak Events for Day of Coordination and planning services.
Are linens included?
Linens are not included in the rental package. We highly recommend CE Rental for all of your linen rental needs. They treat our clients like we would!
